Description
Day One starts with a visit to the Giza pyramids, including the Great Sphinx and the solar boat used in pharaoh funerary rituals. You will then explore the Egyptian Museum, housing over 120,000 artifacts from Egypt’s pre-dynastic era onward, in a neo-classical building designed by Marcel Dourgnon.
Day Two begins with a tour of Saladin’s Citadel and Mohamed Ali’s Alabaster Mosque, an Ottoman-style landmark visible throughout Cairo. The tour continues at the Babylon Fortress area, visiting the Church of St. Sergio with its crypt, the suspended church, and the Church of St. Barbara, which holds important relics.
Before leaving Cairo, the tour includes time at Khan El Khalili Bazaar, Africa’s oldest market, where you can purchase authentic souvenirs.
