Description
On day one, you will be picked up from your hotel in Cairo and travel to Alexandria. Begin with a visit inside the Catacombs of Kom El Shokafa, a three-level Roman cemetery carved into rock.
Next, drive to the Roman Amphitheater and view sunken monuments discovered under Alexandria’s East Harbor. Proceed to Pompey’s Pillar for a photo stop.
Afterwards, explore the Citadel of Qaitbay from the inside and outside, followed by a visit to the Library of Alexandria. At the library’s open court, see statues of Alexander the Great and Ptolemy I. Also visit the reading halls, the President Sadat Museum, and the Impressions of Alexandria Museum.
On day two, after breakfast, your guide will collect you from your hotel. Visit Abbo Elabbas Mosque for a photo stop, then see the exterior of Qaitbay Castle, built on the site of the ancient Lighthouse of Alexandria, one of the seven wonders of the ancient world.
Travel to Montaza Gardens, with a quick stop at King of Mango for freshly squeezed juice and a photo stop at the Unknown Soldier memorial. Enjoy views of Alexandria’s coastline, old harbor, and submerged monuments en route to Montaza Palace and gardens.
The tour returns to Cairo passing by the Stanley Bridge, a modern Alexandria landmark, all in an air-conditioned vehicle.
