Tour Description
The tour begins at the Library of Alexandria, one of the world’s most significant libraries, featuring its extensive history and famous statues of Alexander the Great and Ptolemy.
Next is the Church of St. Mark, the oldest church in Africa, offering insights into the region’s religious history. From there, you will view the excavation sites of the Old Roman City, including Roman villas, amphitheater ruins, and Alexandria’s Great Tomb, from outside while the guide highlights their historical importance.
The journey continues to Alexandria’s old downtown, where traditional markets reveal aspects of local commerce and daily life. There is an optional lunch break at a modern fish restaurant or the well-known traditional Mohamed Ahmed’s eatery, frequented by notable visitors.
In the afternoon, the tour covers the Women’s Markets and Gold Market, known for wedding jewelry. You will drive by Abbo Elabbas Mosque for a photo opportunity, near an ancient funfair showing traditional local recreation.
The visit ends at Quaitbay Castle and the Memorial of the Unknown Soldier, followed by a walk along the corniche before returning comfortably to your accommodation.
