Philo Hotel

We booked a room in January. Although we had reserved a room with a balcony, we were given a room without one. When we inquired, we were told that no other rooms were available. The room overlooked a street and was full of noise from traffic and car horns. The hotel staff were kind and helpful. Our room was equipped with air conditioning, a TV, a small fridge, a water heater, and more. The hotel is in a secured building and is in a good and safe location in the city center, making it possible to reach the hotel safely even late at night, as the area is always busy with pedestrians. The hotel is also close to restaurants and all amenities. We noticed insect bites on our skin during the last days of our stay, though we do not know the source. I appreciate the staff for their good service.
This was actually the best stay we had in Egypt. The location of the hotel is incredible.. Very central and plenty of restaurants around. It’s situated in a gorgeous 19th century French styled building. 3M high ceilings and original parquet floors, generous space. The bathroom is clean and comfortable. There’s an elevator for the building which is really helpful. Given the super central location, you might need earplugs depending on which room you are staying. I had no problem with it. The city wakes up late and it was still quiet around 7:30am.
Came here last minute after booking a scam hotel (classic move seems to be “plumbing problems” upon arrival and they offer to take you to another location), but it was great at Philo. Our room was nice, everyone was lovely, and obviously the location is excellent. Highly recommend!
Very good and quiet rooms. The Egyptian cotton bedsheets were very comfortable and gave us a really good night's sleep. It's a vintage style hotel, high ceiling, 24 hr hot water and a convenient refrigerator. Although I must say I was very surprised to see our (working) refrigerator's power plug which was left unplugged after returning to our room one evening. This was after we explicitly told the staff NOT to make our room, when they asked us if we wanted our sheets changed etc. Thankfully nothing was lost from our room (and of course our sheet were as they were). So I don't know how the refrigerator's plug was unplugged. We certainly couldn't have done it as we had our yogurt in there which we wanted to eat cold upon our return. Hany, and Youanna were of excellent help always ready to make sure customers were well taken care of. We will be sure to come again when we visit!
