Downtown antique hotel
Cairo

We had a very pleasant stay thanks to the friendly and helpful staff. The hotel was clean, well-maintained, and offered great value for the price. The employees were always willing to assist us and made us feel comfortable throughout our stay. The location and services also met our expectations. Thank you for everything we would be happy to stay here again...
I would give staff more stars if possible. Very friendly and approachable. Marwan and not sure about the girl's name I think (Amal) very helpful and kind and will go above and beyond to meet your needs. Anything you need they will come running to help you. They have a very nice vintage lift inside, fun to use. Breakfast was brilliant and you get served very quickly. Dinner was also available and they could arrange it even if you want it at odd time. But if you want best they give them few hours notice. Everything was made fresh
Rooms look dated. Bathroom can use some work as well as cleanliness of rooms prior to guests coming. Seems like they don't bother maintaining rooms that have not been used in a while. Breakfast is very nice and the staff is great and helpful.
Firstly, we know that hotels in Egypt are rarely what they promise, however, honestly this place sucked. Upon arrival we were asked to cancel our Booking reservation due to “maintenance” and then pay in cash for another room- for a 20 USD discount said reception. However the new amount was still on par with our booking reservation and we were put in a worse room than we had booked. The room itself was ok, however stunk of cigarette smoke from the open fan grid to a courtyard outside and had a bathroom in a weird glass cube in the corner (not sound or light proof which is hardly romantic). There is a plug for the fan in the shower - which had no curtain and was a huge safety risk. It was loud (but everywhere in Cairo is), but the real disappointment was the immediate scam practice (so the hotel can avoid booking fees and tax, and downgrade us). The location was pretty good - lots of decent local restaurants around. The breakfast and breakfast staff were great, and the receptionists were nice- but still were unethical in their practice. Tours/ drivers quoted to us were way more expensive than elsewhere and they tried to actively dissuade us from doing anything by ourselves. In short, online photos don’t represent the hotel, and it’s a classic low key scam. In saying that, it was safe, good brekky, and decent location.
