Gamaleya Boutique Hotel

We stayed here for two nights and enjoyed our time. The hotel is in an old part of the city that seems to offer an authentic Cairo experience. We were able to get to the entrance by taxi, but the tight streets are well-populated - even at 1am - and could be difficult for some drivers, but there is parking nearby. The people working in the hotel were very nice and helpful. From walking me to an ATM and assisting me in buying a SIM card, to offering us the opportunity to use the showers for free a few days after we returned to Cairo before our night flight, we are extremely grateful to all who we met there. They also cooked us fresh breakfast and dinners and we truly felt looked after and valued. Thank you so much to Mariam and all at Gamaleya Boutique Hotel.
Got my parents this hotel as I am a student here. Lovely staff. They treated me as a guest too. Beautiful message of the hotel and relation to Islamic art. Great location near restaurants and khan el Khalili. Small and cute.
Its in the heart of the market, street food and shopping walking distance from the hotel. Walking into the hotel, you get a feel that there was a workshop for furniture on the ground floor. Rooms are on floor 2. The rooms are clean, booji, and very quaint. Each room is different from one another. The bathroom is clean. Overall good clean room.
Gamaleya Hotel was honestly the perfect choice for our 4-day stay in Cairo. There’s a huge difference between visiting Islamic Cairo and the bazaar for 2–3 hours as part of a tour, and actually staying there for a few days, right in the middle of all the energy and chaos. This place is definitely not for people looking for complete silence at night. 😄 The crowds, music, street life, and constant buzz go on until early morning — but that’s exactly what makes the whole experience unforgettable and so authentic. The neighborhood is chaotic in the best possible way, but we always felt completely safe. The rooms are cozy, clean, and honestly great value for money. But what really made this hotel stand out was the staff. They genuinely try to help with everything. For example: we asked for a quieter room farther from the street noise → they arranged it within a few hours on our first day we wanted to try authentic Egyptian food → they ordered an amazing tasting selection for us from a great nearby restaurant breakfast was freshly prepared every morning dinners were also based on local flavors and were delicious and they handled our late check-out super easily: instead of 11:00 AM, we could stay until 8:30 PM The photos really speak for themselves — the place looks just as good in real life. If you want to truly experience Cairo instead of just “seeing” it as a tourist, we’d absolutely recommend staying here.
We were really happy here. The staff was super nice. We had breakfasts and dinners, both very good. Just a few steps away from Khan El Khalili nightlife street. Fun spot. The owner grew up in this house where his grandfather had a soap factory, and he's done an amazing job of renovating it into a hotel in recent years. It is built around a inner courtyard which gives it style and class.
